These were a complete surprise to me as my wife gave them to me for a "special birthday" present.
The first I knew about them was when I found them hanging in my garage after I had been away for
the day!
They are a complete Higby & Bowditch 6 hung by Matthew in the garage roof on the morning of
Saturday 9th April 2005. They are hung as pairs between the roof supports with 2 pairs side by side
and the third pair swinging mouth to mouth with one of the other pairs. They are laid out as the back
6 of an 8
The first ringing was 3 leads of Plain Bob Minor on the evening of the 9th April. The following day
there was further ringing with rounds on 6, All Saints Doubles on the back 5, Plain Hunt Minimus
double handed on the back 4 and Stedman Singles first on the front 3 and then on the back 3.
The first ropes fitted on the bells were temporarily on loan from Matthew. They were
originally at Pig-le-tower and had over 2million changes rung on them!
A new set were ordered from Minchin's so I could chose the sally colours, these were delivered and fitted
during July and are navy, bottle green & claret.
The bells were dismantled during late October 2007 pending a move of house and were stored for a few months
whilst waiting to be erected in their new home. During Summer 2008 a summerhouse was constucted and the bells
installed, they were tested individually in October and the first official ringing was on Christmas Eve, followed
by more on New Years Eve.
They have been hung in much the same way as they were in their old location except the trebles have been turned
through 90 degrees to form a closed rope cirlce.
